Cotyledon is a genus of the plant family Crassulaceae. The distribution areas of these species are the dry areas of Africa, from South Africa to Ethiopia and the Arabian Peninsula. Some of the species are leaf succulents others are stem succulents. There are dwarf forms but also large shrubs in this genus. The leaves may fleshy, often furry-haired and white or silvery, brown or greenish yellow. The flowers are pendulous and tubular, the color of the flower may be yellow, orange to red.
